The Heckler & Koch MR556A1 AR 15 carbine is based on the HK416 platform. The MR556A1 is a proven weapon of reliability, durability, and precision. It was baptized in combat. This is the closest that the initiated can come to owning the real deal. It was assembled in the U.S. with both German- and U.S. made components. The MR556A1 is similar to the HK416, but uses a HK short stroke gas piston system, instead of the direct gas impingement system used on smaller AR-15 style rifles. This closed piston system doesn't allow the exhaust gasses to enter the receiver, meaning the HK runs cooler, cleaner and more reliably. The HK system's advantages are even more apparent in adverse conditions such as dust, sand, and mud. Comes with a 30 round magazine and makes a great home defense or sporting rifle.
